A friend called and asked what the Greek word was for "man" in Ephesians 4:8 where Paul is introducing the so-called "5-Fold Ministry." When I checked the Greek, it was obvious to me that Paul had not excluded women from these leadership-ministry gifts.

Paul never mentions a spiritual father but he does mention a spiritual mother in Romans 16:13. Although we can't know for sure the identity of this woman, the evidence points to a particular woman that may surprise you. 

"Let your women keep silent in the church" has been used to silence and marginalize women throughout history. In Romans 16:7 Paul greets Andronicus and Junia whom he says are "of note among the apotles." Junia is a feminine name, and although some have argued the name should be Junias, which is male, the manuscript and historical evidence are overwhelming that "Junia" is the correct rendering.
