How much do we value our freedom? Patrick Henry expressed the sentiments of many in 18th century America when he declared, "Give me liberty or give me death." If we are to preserve liberty for ourselves and the next generation, we must love freedom more than life itself.

In 18th century Colonial America, two prallel movements occurred at the same time: A political protest against British mandates and a Great Awakening. These two movments, one more political and the other more spiritual, overlapped and even merged, resulting in the formation of the United States of America. "Understanding the Power of the Name" is the theme of Lesson 4 in this 5 Lesson Series. David said to Goliath, "You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel" (I Samuel 17:45).

Don't trust in natural human abilities and resources, but face your giant with faith in God and in the power of His Name. This is what David did as he went out to meet Goliath.
