"Yahweh-Jireh" meaning "The LORD Will See and Provide" is one of the covenant names by which God revealved Himself to His people in the Old Testament. What an incredible revelation of the character of God and His attitude toward His people both then and now. 

We can know God becasue He has chosen to make Himself known. In this first episode in this series on "Knowing God," Eddie talks about the significance of names in ancient Jewish culture and how God used this to make Himself known to His people.

Lydia was a successful businesswoman and the head of a large household in Philippi. She was also a woman of great hospitality and her hospitable faith played an important role in establishing the first church in Europe.

The incredible story of Ruth, a Moabite, became canonized in Old Testament Scritpure and she became celebrated in Christian circles when Matthew included her in the human lineage leading to the birth of the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ.

Deborah is described in Scripture as both a prophetess and a judge, meaning that she exercised both spiritual and civil authority in Israel. She was so esteemed that the commander of the Israeli army refused to go into battle unless she went with him.

In Episode 2 of "Amazing Women of the Bible" we are continuing our study of Sarah. One of the most misunderstood passages in the modern church is I Peter 3:6 where Sarah is said to have called Abraham "lord." Amazing insights emerge when this passage is looked at in the original language and its historical context.

"Amazing Women of the Bible" is the theme for this week. The first woman we are looking at is Sarah, and we discover in her an amazing woman of fearless faith.

In this second part of the examination of this verse, we consider the Greek word "authentein" that is translated "authority." Interestingly, this is the only place this word is found in the NT and this speaks volumes about the meaning of this passage.

I Timothy 2:11-12 has been used more than any other passage to silence and marginalize women in the church. In this epidose we began showing that when interpreted in the historical context, it is obvious that Paul is addressing a local situation in Ephesus where Timothy, to whom he is writing, is confronting false teaching.

When looking at the Greek language in which Paul wrote, it is clear that he did not exclude women from functioning as "episcopas," translated as "bishop" and "overseer."
